Throughout scripture God uses the analogy of Christ followers producing fruit as an outward sign of their faith. The idea of producing and sharing “fruit” can be found throughout the Bible including the Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25). They are all things we receive and are called to share with others; shining God’s light in a world of darkness. In John chapter 15 you can find the analogy of Jesus as the “True Vine”. It is an intricate analogy describing Jesus as our source of life. We are all pruned and tended to our best potential by our loving heavenly Father, the gardner. As we stand strong, pursuing our relationship with Christ we produce “much fruit” and bring glory to the Father.
Upon Christ’s death and resurrection the Holy Spirit was sent to those who were his disciples. We too, are sent the Spirit as our helper when we accept Jesus as our Savior. Galatians 5:16 says “So let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” We must never get tired of spiritual growth, being teachable by the Spirit to help us become more like Christ to the world. A world that so desperately needs to know a God who is faithful and offers unconditional love. Allow the Holy Spirit to enter your soul, removing anything that does not bring God glory. Pray to receive the Fruits of the Spirit and for God to reveal to you how you can produce fruit from your faith by sharing God’s love and truth with others.
