James 3:17 ESV But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
The chaos in the world today has created an overwhelming amount of division and hate that breaks my heart. As we all move forward in this “new normal” that we will all be living in, I pray that we all seek wisdom and discernment from the only true source of wisdom. People are weary and broken. They are struggling to stay afloat. And placing worldly things above their identity in Christ. Everyone is navigating the world’s circumstances based on what weighs on their heart. Even when anger is spread, it is a secondary emotion coming from a source of fear and lack of hope. May we listen to those fears, lend an understanding heart, and share the source of hope we have in Christ. In light of that, I wanted to share some Bible verses that God has placed upon my heart.
Be ready to learn and gain wisdom from God:
James 1:5 NLT If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
Proverbs 2:6-8 NLT For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.
The value of wisdom:
Proverbs 20:15 NLT Wise words are more valuable than much gold and many rubies.
Proverbs 3:13-18 ESV Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace…
Guarding your heart (from anger, pride and degrading others):
Proverbs 4:23 NLT Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Proverbs 12:16 NLT A fool is quick-tempered but a wise person stays calm when insulted.
Proverbs 13:10 NLT Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.
Proverbs 14:21 NLT It is a sin to belittle one’s neighbor; blessed are those who help the poor.
Extend love and understanding to others:
1 Corinthians 13:4-6 NLT Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Proverbs 14:33 NLT Wisdom is enshrined in an understanding heart; wisdom is not found among fools.
Proverbs 19:8 NLT To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.
Walking in God’s path and wisdom provides safety:
Proverbs 23:19 NLT My child, listen and be wise. Keep your heart on the right course.
Proverbs 29:25 NLT Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.
